Kitchen Cleaning Hacks!

Keep your garbage disposal smelling good.

There are few things more repulsive than a stinking garbage disposal. One of our go-to methods for keeping the sink in the kitchen clean is to use ice cube trays filled with lemon juice whenever it starts to look dirty. Using lemon wedges, rock salt, and water, you can make your own ice cubes. When the ice cubes are ready, simply drop them down the drain and turn on the garbage disposal. Cleaning the blades with rock salt acts as a scrub, while ice aids in removing grime and residue. If you put a slice of lemon in your sink, it will help keep the area smelling clean.

Revitalise used baking sheets, using hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are a powerful cleaning duo, but they aren’t limited to just scrubbing the tub and sink clean. It can restore the look of even the most worn-down baking utensils. Simply sprinkle baking soda on your sheet, spray it down with hydrogen peroxide, and finish with more baking soda. Once you’ve had some time to let the restoration process finish, you can return and clean the baking sheets.

Clean your oven overnight

Stop relying on self-cleaning technology. This high temperature setting in the oven can leave your kitchen smelling unpleasant and may trigger the fire alarm. Instead, make a homemade solution by combining half a cup of baking soda with a third of a cup of white vinegar and pouring it into a spray bottle. After cooling, take out the racks and spray the oven’s interior with the solution, taking care to avoid the elements. Keep the door closed and go to sleep to give the solution time to work (up to 12 hours). The first thing you should do when you wake up is to wash the oven with soapy water and dry it with a soft cloth.

Clean the oven rack

The use of powdered detergent is not limited to the washing machine. Without scrubbing (and possibly scratching!) your oven racks, you can restore their original shine by soaking them in a tub filled with powder washing detergent. After four hours, take it out and rinse it with clean water.

Polish furniture seasoned with lemon oil and vinegar

Instead of using store-bought cleaners, you opt for more natural methods. The scent and shine that this homemade wood polish provides are both worth the effort. The ingredients should be mixed in a spray bottle at a ratio of 1 part lemon oil to 1 part white vinegar. Wipe down your cupboards, pantry door, and baseboards with a solution sprayed directly onto a dry microfiber cloth.

Clean the inside of your cabinets by vacuuming them.

You can also use a vacuum to clean the inside of your kitchen cabinets. Instead of wasting time picking up crumbs with a cloth, try using the vacuum’s brush attachment to quickly and easily vacuum them up. If you want to clean your pantry shelves, try this method.

Use oil to clean your stove hood.

Grease and dust cling to your range hood and make it difficult to clean with regular household cleaners. Vegetable oil is one of the most effective stove cleaning hacks. A few drops on a cleaning cloth or paper towel will remove dirt and grime from any surface.

Toss some Tang in the dishwasher

Over time, a dishwasher may accumulate deposits from hard water. In the event that your dishwasher is no longer effectively cleaning your dishes, you may wish to resort to the use of Tang. Put the entire container of the fruity powdered drink into a running dishwasher to clean it. Give the machine a full cycle to complete. Simply toss in the filthy items, start a new cycle, and wait for the results.

Soak range hood filter

The filter in your range hood’s exhaust system is prone to becoming filthy, fast, and covered in grease and dust. Clean it by bringing water to a boil in a large pot and stirring in 1/2 cup baking soda gradually. Following this, you should put the filter into the pot of water to soak. If the filter won’t fit in your pot as a whole, soak the pieces separately. After you’ve cleaned one side of the filter, flip it over and give the other side a bath. Wear gloves; temperatures will be high.

Use a toothbrush to clean the disposal guard on your sink.

It’s easy for food scraps to get caught on the underside of the guard protecting your sink’s garbage disposal. Turn the flap inside out and soak a toothbrush in an anti-grease solution. Scrub the perimeter of the guard with a toothbrush to remove any remnants of food.
